Chestnut Park

When waking through Chestnut Park it's not unusual to run into alligators laying on the shoreline of the small rivers running through the park.  This little guy wanted to show off a little as we walked by.

With all the rain this year the river is filling up with water plants like these.  In many places they cover the whole river or small lake.

This year in Chestnut Park there are large areas just covered with these water plants and flowers as you can see in the photo above and to the right.

When there is no breeze the lakes take on a new look with reflections like these.  In this photo we are standing in a small cove looking back on to the small lake.

The small river above runs into this small lake within Chestnut Park, a beautiful place for a walk along the lakes edge.  Just to the right and left in the photo are picnic areas with tables and grills.  Also parking is available at each site, and you can call ahead and reserve a shelter site for the day.  There are restrooms and water fountains located throughout the park.

The river opens into this little "cove" filled with water plants and flowers.  You almost believe you can walk across the area, but that would be a big mistake for there are alligators along the edge on the opposite side.
